The Health Care sector is undergoing dramatic change in which new financing rules, rigorous cutbacks and new policy rules on market forces are now part of the everyday reality. Health care institutions and providers are entering into partnerships in response to these developments,
because collaboration allows them to cut costs and strengthen their position compared to other players on the health care market, such as insurers and suppliers. While these partnerships can often improve the quality of health care, there are also disadvantages, as cultural differences and bureaucracy will soon dominate if working together becomes an end in itself. We take a practical and pragmatic approach by focussing on those matters which are genuinely realistic and necessary. For example, we can advise you when a simple cooperation agreement is sufficient and when it is advisable to establish your partnership in a new structure, such as a private company with limited liability, an association (possibly a cooperative association) or a foundation. We ensure that you have a clear sight of any potential problems in your organisation and can act to eliminate them in a timely manner in order to focus on the real purpose, namely working together.
Expertise
Our sector team is comprised of specialist jurists and civil-law notaries who are well acquainted with the health care sector. We provide proactive, enterprising services on a daily basis to a large number of health care institutions and individual professionals as regards the creation of, provision of assistance to and analysis of both large and small partnerships. In addition to extensive experience in the creation of joint health care centres (both nationally and internationally), we also advise on a regular basis to partnerships of medical specialists and/or general practitioners on how to further improve their partnership. Other services include advice and assistance with the formation of health care groups and with mergers and acquisitions, as well as scans/quick scans in integrated care.
Multidisciplinary approach
The Health Care sector group works closely together with the BDO Health Care sector team. This cooperation allows us to offer the services of a multidisciplinary team who will advise and support you not only in your partnership activities, but also in respect of enterprise in the health care sector, optimisation of internal control systems, administration and/or in-house accounting and merger investigations. As regards international issues, we can rely on the assistance of our foreign partner firms in the European ICLA network.
